The Monastery Built on a Volcanic Plug

Taung Kalat, located in central Burma, thirty miles or so from the ancient city of Bagan towers above the earth like some sort of giant's sand castle. Atop it there is a Buddhist monastery which rests upon the precipitous volcanic plug.

Yes, that's right a volcanic plug. It sounds dangerous but at this stage in its life, Taung Kalat poses no threat. A volcanic plug (sometimes called a ‘neck') is formed when magma, on its way up through a vent on an active volcano, hardens inside the vent. While the volcano is active this could well lead to the mother of all explosions and it would, you have to admit, be a shame if this beautiful monastery was to be catapulted in to the stratosphere. However, the volcano is thought (perhaps we should say hoped) to be extinc

Vacations in the Maldives

An incredible place to have great vacations! The Maldives are made of more that 1000 islands, with only 200 of them being inhabited. So if you’re looking to spend your next vacations at the beach, the Maldives Islands might be the place to go! Oh, you’d better start saving money right now though, because it is very expensive…

Luxury Hotel in Singapore

A new hotel just opened in Singapore. It is called the Marina Bay Sands Resort. This luxury hotel opened in 2010 and did cost more than 4 billion dollars to build. It is now the most expensive hotel in the world. An amazing pool of more than 400 feet tops the 3 towers of the hotel at 650 feet up.

Arriving at Shipwreck Beach Navagio Zante Zakynthos Greek Island

Arriving at the shipwreck beach in North West Zakynthos Island Greece.... Yes, its hard to believe from all the photos so I took a video instead. The water is actually that blue. We took a boat trip from the north wast of the island using a group called the Potamitis brothers. you can find them in google. Very nice people and great service. They stopped at the blue caves also and we had a swim. We spent about 1 hour on the beach and swimming in the cool (very cool and very deep) blue water. The heat on the beach was 30C so the water was refreshing. If you visit this island you must take a boat trip to this must see beach. If you rent a car you can also drive to the top of the cliffs and take postcard style photographs of the beach and the water. A slice of paradise in Europe.
