Delivering next gen hardware wrapped in current (or known) exterior enclosures has been SOP with console makers for years. For example, Microsoft used PowerMac G5's for developers of XBOX 360 games before the consumer hardware shipped.

someone explain this to me.....wouldn't activating push notifications absolutely KILL my iPhone 3GS battery life?? I've never been able to figure out if push notifications are bad to turn on cause they drain battery life?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The military and the Army has had a "dialogue" with Apple for years... pretty much every project involving a piece of field equipment has gone to another manufacturer because of durability concerns.

This is what I've been saying: computer geeks design and market the stuff and it's like cutting themselves out of a potentially huge market. Jobs always understood the need to connect computers to people--non-computer-geek people... people that don't want to waste days of their lives just trying to figure out how to make their computer work so they can then do work.
Making it a limited or closed platform is part of the simplification needed for a successful device catering to almost everyone.

I agree that both OS's are good and in many cases a less expensive baseline Windows PC can adequately meet the needs of most users.
But this line of advertising really misses the mark with me. As someone else said ,it's like comparing a Rolls-Royce and a Subaru. Both are "cars" with engines, and tires and a steering wheel but are not really the same at all. Microsoft simply throwing up a few PC's that are near the spec's of a Mac, really does not tell the whole story.
Besides shouldn't HP, Gateway, Acer or Dell be running this add about HARDWARE and not Microsoft?

The fact that congress cannot construct a budget is simply a failure of them to perform their duties. Part of the reason is that the motivation to avoid a shutdown isn't great enough, thus I propose a two-fold solution to motivate them a little
1) Congress persons do not get paid during the shutdown. Perhaps if they were to not get paid they would be more motivated.
2) In the event of a shutdown all members of congress immediately become ineligible to run for re-election for their current position and ineligible to run in any other federal election. Since a shutdown means they've failed, they shouldn't be allowed to continue.
First off, nice location! :D (born/raised in Omaha)
I'd go a bit further on your first solution. If they don't pass a budget by a given day, not only do they not get paid during the shutdown, but their pay goes towards keeping the government running while they work on that budget. In short, if they don't pass it, they work for free until they get it.
I still say that during the SOTU, Obama should have told everyone that he is putting the presidential salary towards the budget, and have asked Congress to do the same. Then sit back and see what they do. If they don't, they would have shown who they really are to their constituents. This goes for both Blues, Reds, and any/all parties inbetween.

I used Pages to produce some documentation for my day job.
I found Pages easy to pick up, and the end result of my work has turned more than a few heads at the office.
So much so, that we're probably going to purchase a Mac mini + Pages to be a dedicated writing machine. :D
This, as opposed to purchasing a single license for Adobe InDesign, which at $699 USD, is actually more expensive.

It's highly unlikely that "unused programs" are what's slowing your system down. What's far more likely is a bad hard drive. We're not talking about Windows here--you're not likely to have a bunch of rogue processes running in the background chewing up all of your processor time.
Open up Console.app and look through the logs. If you're running 10.5 or older, check /var/log/system.log. On 10.6, check /var/log/kernel.log. Look for something like this:
disk0s2: I/O error
That would be indicative of a failing hard drive.

downloaded the update, my news feed won't populate. just get an error message. deleted it and reuploaded the previous release which didn't have any problems. i could care less about the places feature so i guess it doesn't matter.

Birth rates have fallen dramatically and the explosion of diabetes and other modern ills in countries like Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, the UAE, etc. means things will change simply because they have to. Although social inequality will remain as long as kings and dictators or republicans are in charge.

Something I'd like to see is a rackmount SDXC RAID array. Think how many sd slots would fit in a 1U array. I know, probably won't happen, but still interesting to see.And this is just the front

I think he;s going by the fact that iOS is mentioned before Mac OSX in the add.
As someone earlier posted, I suppose those of us that use Apple computers as tools and not as a fashion item should just be grateful it is mentioned at all.
that's even worse!! lol being picky about what's said first in a line?!?! so by that mentalilty if they were switched, would he then complain about Mac OS being the focus of Apple from now on? it's absurd to judge something like that just from a sentance like that. they have to have one before the other, it seems alphabetical, thats it.

Do you have proof apple ordered the destruction of the products?
There are a few outlets to get the same products but they are in China.
Of course not. I was saying that if these were the original parts that were rejected by Apple, then there isn't much wiggle room regarding the fact that they are stolen goods. It is highly unlikely that Apple released these parts for sale. It is much more likely that they were ordered stored or destroyed. Either way, they would now be stolen property.
Now, if they were from another manufacturer (i.e. a knock-off product), or from a non-Apple production run at Foxconn (though there may be some serious issues there, too, as under contract Apple may own all product coming off certain tools), then the only possible criminal issue would be patent infringement.

Dear Adobe,
START FOCUSING ON CS APPS! Damn... My mac mini g4 works faster converting my raw to jpeg files than my c2d iMac! I know you need to compete with Apple... but focus on your current products that are in need of updating to Universal code for the professionals that rely on them!
Thanks,
Bimmerkid

A mistake? Unless I'm mistaken, when the 40GB PS3 was released, it was $399, and the 80GB version was $499. At least, those were the normal prices when I bought my 40GB.

From the graphic announment it is pretty clear what OS is now the focus of ACE (Apple Consumer Eletronics).
ACE should drop all pretense and rename WWiOSDC:mad:
lol so you're totally ignoring that it also says Mac OS and that the Mac App Store also has icons like the iOS app store just so you can bitch about iOS again? didn't know it was time for your conspiracy theories again, we only had one just before the weekend...
